Basketball training for children ages 4 to 7 years old should focus on fundamental skills, physical activity, and fun. Monday Aug. 5th 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Monday Aug. 12th 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Monday Aug. 19th 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Monday Aug. 26th 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Monday Sept. 9th 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Key Components of Training 1. Basic Skills Development: • Dribbling: Teach children to dribble with both hands. Start with stationary dribbling and progress to moving dribbles. • Passing: Introduce basic passes like chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes. • Shooting: Focus on proper form. Use lower hoops to ensure they can shoot successfully and build confidence. • Footwork: Incorporate basic footwork drills like shuffling, pivoting, and jump stops. 2. Physical Fitness: • Coordination and Balance: Use activities that improve balance and hand-eye coordination, such as obstacle courses. • Agility and Speed: Include fun drills that encourage quick movements and changes in direction. 3. Game Understanding: • Basic Rules: Introduce simple rules of basketball in a fun and engaging way. • Team Play: Encourage passing and working together as a team through small-sided games and activities.
